Mr. Souza, who resided for many years in Lake Worth, Fl., was active in
Greyhound racing for more than half a century and was inducted into the
Pioneer Section of the Greyhound Hall Of Fame in 1986.
He was elected to the NGA Board of Directors in 1978, representing the
South Florida subdistrict. He served on the Board for the next 16
years—through 1993.
Mr. Souza’s kennels raced mostly in New England, Florida and Colorado.
He also had a racing kennel that competed in Havana, Cuba in the 1950s.
He is survived by two daughters, Linda (husband Ron) Wohlen of Revere,
Ma., and Barbara (husband Robert) Breckbaum, as well as other
descendants and relatives. He was preceded in death by wife Wilma and
daughter Jackie.
Funeral services will be held in W. Palm Beach. Details of the services
are pending.
