A second round that took five days to complete, thanks to a no-race, was finished Wednesday, Sept. 16, at Bluffs Run for the $60,000 Finale.

The re-run of the no-race saw the trackís victory leader Bocís Hank Jr (Boeckenstedt), 35-20-3-6, roll out to a seven length win. That gave Hank 25 points good for a share of a four-way tie for second in the points standings as the greyhounds hit the halfway point in the qualifying.

Leading the points was the lone greyhound to win in each of the first two rounds. Illuminate (Filipelli/Miner), 40-10-7-11, a 72-pounder born Oct. 13, 2012 out of Kiowa Sweet Trey Ė Driven Lee, held on to win by a nose in the second round. He has the maximum of 30 points.

First-round winner Bocís Sailfish (Boeckenstedt), 34-13-8-6, was crowded early and settled for a second in his second round race for his 25 points.

DS Sip N Si (Bean & Stout), 31-12-9-0, rallied from second in the homestretch to win a three-way battle at the wire by a neck for his 25 points.

No Big Deal (Hardison), 39-14-5-5, pounded out a win by a head for his 25 points.

Three greyhounds are tied with 23 points to round out the top eight.

Two of the three run for the Mickim Kennel. Down Lo, 9-4-2-1, a 19-month-old pup, gave a solid effort in winning by two lengths. Champís Conquest, 31-5-4-6, added a third place outing in the second round to a first round win.

Superior Phoenix (Harlan Brothers), 28-6-5-5, settled for a third place finish in the second round after an opening win.

The cutoff for the top 48 was clean. Apple Can Fly (Black) and JasemanJones (Woodall) made the cut with eight points, leaving four greyhounds on the outside with seven points.

The 48 survivors move onto the quarterfinals on Saturday, Sept. 19. The cut is more severe after the quarterfinals as only 24 greyhounds will advance to the Wednesday, Sept. 23, semifinals.
