    Greyhound Racing First Round of $145,000 Iowa Breeder Race by Steve Sigafoose

    DUBUQUE, Iowa - The Xtrem Hess Kennel produced four winners and the Stidham Kennel had three victories in the opening round of the $145,000 Iowa Breeders Cup Stakes at the Iowa Greyhound Park on Saturday, Oct. 1.

    A field of 104 greyhounds filled out 13 races on the Saturday card.

    Alís Flyer, 25-5-5-7, was Xtrem Hessí first winner, taking the third race on the program in a come-from-behind fashion by a half length.

    Pg Zeus, 26-7-5-2, took the eighth race by a comfortable two and a half lengths.

    Pg No Way Nozay, 26-5-3-5, won the 10th race with a homestretch rally that produced a two-length decision. Keeper Boeing, 26-5-5-3, came from behind in the 12th race to win by a length.

    Jd Accomplice, 14-8-3-2, fresh off a third place finish in the $30,000 Future Stars Stakes, picked up Stidhamís first win, taking the seventh race with a five and a half length win, the largest margin of victory in the first round. His time for the 5-16 mile course was 31.39 seconds, one of the co-quickest time posted in the first round.

    Littermate Jd Admiral, 15-7-0-2, took the ninth race by two lengths. The pair was a part of a Dec. 30, 2014 litter out of Jd Titanium Ė Allisonracinteam.

    Jason Baconmaker, 19-6-3-1, opened the round with a come from behind rally to win by a head.

    The Superior Kennel had two winners. In the fourth race, Killer Torina, 16-3-2-3, surprised the patrons as the 26-1 longshot won pulling away by two lengths. RF Zula, 15-4-5-1, came from behind to take the 11th race by a length.

    Kiss My Dust (Clayton Black), 25-7-8-4, lived up to her favoriteís role by taking the second race, hanging on to win by a head.

    The remaining first round race, the fifth on the program, went to Lís Tyme (Boeckenstedt), 19-5-3-5. A 10-1 selection by the patrons, Tyme led early, slipped and then rallied in the homestretch to win by a length.

    The field returns for the second of the four qualifying rounds for Friday, October 7.

    The championship race for the IBC and a Consolation test are both set for Saturday, October 22.
